Why early detection
Early detection is proven to reduce mortality from all types of cancer, especially for those at high risk of developing the disease. Discovering cancer early means better prognoses and more successful treatment outcomes.
By assessing risk profiles for cancer, screening, prevention and risk reduction strategies can be tailored both on the individual and population level. Our research will allow us to estimate the impact of risk-based policies.
Who we are
Our research team, led by Rasika Rajapakshe, works at the BC Cancer Agency’s Center for the Southern Interior, located in the breath-taking city of Kelowna, British Columbia, where Rasika is a senior medical physicist.
The group is made up of students, research associates, and scientists, and our aim is to reduce cancer mortality by improving screening techniques and enhancing cancer detection, particularly for those at higher risk. |
